Basic SCORM Overview

SCORM(Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a group of specifications, defined in primarily XML schemas, that define learning content and its delivery within the world wide web and Learning Management systems. The three larger portions of the specifications are
 - CAM (Content Aggregation Model)
 - S&N (Sequencing and Navigation)
 - RTE (Runtime Enviroment)

Content Aggregation Model

The xml schema for defining metadata regarding learning content. That is, it defines the "structure", and properties that describe learning content such as html files and so on

Sequencing and Navigation

Defines properties that affect the running behaviour of a course. For example, you must pass chapter 1 questions, before moving on to chapter 2. This kind of rule, can be specified within XML and interpreted buy the S&N engine.

Runtime Enviroment

The run-time is a little more programatic in nature as it defines an API, rather than XML. The API is used as a standard for content to communicate data to a Learning Management system.
